This is both a visa question as well as an income tax question. For those living in Thailand more than 180 days per year (in my case a U.S. citizen), retired (non O or non-OA retirement visa) and living on Social Security income, can you confirm 2 things for me. 1). Does Thailand tax you on U.S. Social Security payments if they are remitted to a Thailand bank? 2). Does this depend on the type of visa that one has (resident vs tourist visa)?
How do personal tax rates vary between the U.K. and Thailand, would going Non Tax in the U.K. be more economical by paying tax in Thailand. My taxable income in the U.K. is around £18000 with pensions and interest payments. I will be having a consultation with a tax expert in the U.K. but he has no knowledge of the Thai tax system.
If you are a uk citizen and become tax resident in Thailand .If you do the righ
If you are a uk citizen and become tax resident in Thailand .If you do the right thing and register with the Thai tax officials .Will the DWP get informed so your uk pension is frozen
I recently learned that if you stay in Thailand for more than 180 days, you’re considered a tax resident and have to pay taxes there.
But I’m still a bit confused — does that mean taxes need to be paid in both countries (my home country and Thailand)? Or can I transfer all my tax obligations fully to Thailand?
Also, how is this actually tracked if I can’t open a Thai bank account yet? Like… how do they even verify that money was received in Thailand in the first place?
Would really appreciate any insights or experiences on this topic 🙏
* I have recently gotten a DTV in Jakarta and am back in Thailand.
* I am a Japanese national & a framework to prevent double taxation is in place between Japan and Thailand.
* As I am planning to live and work here more than 180days per calendar year (most probably around 300 days per calendar year) , I believe I will be subject to personal income taxes in Thailand.
* I have previously worked under a working visa in Thailand, therfore, I have a tax ID in Thailand and Thai bank account.
Q: Has anyone here been in a similar situation—staying in Thailand for more than 180 days while working remotely for a company under a DTV visa—and had experience paying taxes in Thailand?
I'd appreciate any insights or experiences you could share!
Does anyone know of a site where I can read about the pros and cons of DTV, please? Looks like we have to pay taxes in Thailand as well as my home country?
