Do re-entry permits count as a 90-day check-in requirement in Thailand?

Hi folks, last time I went to do my 90 days check in, the lady said I didn't need to as I'd just came back from Vietnam 2 weeks previous and filled my re-entry permit at the airport and said that counts so she gave me a date to come back 2 months later. Well that date was due yesterday so I could still go tomorrow. But I've just returned from China 3 weeks ago and filled in a re-entry permit again so will that also count as a"check in"??? Which would then last me to when I go on another vacation and then get another re-entry permit. Tia

TLDR : Answer Summary
A 90-day report is required only for individuals who remain in Thailand for 90 consecutive days without leaving. When a person departs Thailand, the count resets upon their return. Each time you re-enter Thailand, it begins a new 90-day period, which means you are not required to check-in if you're out of the country for 90 days or less. Re-entry permits do not affect the 90-day check-in requirement; they simply facilitate re-entering Thailand.

Correct.

You only do 90 days is they are consecutive every time you leave and return a new 90 starts.

I had a o9 day check in visa a d only checked in twice in 7 years

Whenever you re enter your 90 day resets the day you arrive is day one

You need to check-in (inform immigration of your location) each time you come into the country. If you stay and a fancy hotel they will do it for you. If you stay at a boutique hotel, AirBnB, with friends, etc, they may not do it for you.

After that you will need to check-in every 90 days. If you are not in-country for 90 days (at a time), you do not need to do a 90-day check-in.

what bullshit? If you are not 90 days in the country?

So a 90 day report is for when you are Thailand for 90 CONSECUTIVE days. If you leave Thailand you break the consecutive days and then you have to start counting again as day 1 when you return. Your next report will be due 89 days after you returned back from China. The re-entry permit has nothing to do with it.

ca. You still vet a multiple entry re entry.

One year I uses mine f times.

Not if you leave the country sometime as the 90 day synchronisation will be lost

it’s only for long term visas like retirement, so we get a reset once a year when we renew

Unless things have changed recently, only the very first extension counts as a 90 day report and gets you a slip in your passport with the next reporting date. After that, extension dates and 90 day report dates are generally not connected to each other. (I say "generally" because I have heard of immigration occasionally doing the report when someone comes in for an extension, but that's not the general practice.)

A visit to immigration for a visa renewal also restarts the clock

coolio, and keep in mind - the 90-days report clock stops when you exit, and starts again when you re-enter, the day of entry counting a day number One

I did notice that thanks, but I wasn't going pay that as I thought I'd only be away 3 times before my visa needed renewed, if I did happen to go 4 times I'd lose 200bt if I didn't I'd lose 800bt

if you know you'll be leaving more than 3 times you can buy a multiple re-entry permit that's good for unlimited number of times until your visa/extension expires. It's 3800 baht at immigration or 4000 baht at the airport.

thanks 👍 that'll mean I don't need to do one before I head to the UK beginning of August either, cheers.ps that 1000bht re-entry permit every time you leave isn't half a pain in the ring 🤬
