As I mentioned earlier, for some banking apps, changing to a new phone still allows you to log in as long as the phone number remains the same.

However, if it’s a new phone with a new number, you will need to visit the bank with your bank book and password to complete the verification.

I had a similar experience recently after buying a new phone (iPhone 17). It actually depends on the bank and the app.

For banks like UOB and KBank, you usually don’t need to visit the branch—logging out from the app on the old phone and logging in on the new phone works, as long as you remember your username and password.

But for Bangkok Bank, SCB, or Krungsri, you generally need to register the new device again. In most cases, that means visiting a branch to verify and activate the new phone.

So yes, some banks will require a branch visit, while others won’t—it really depends on the bank’s policy.
