thank you Tod. That’s what I’m trying to avoid for now (ie. having to transfer 800K to a Thai bank account ) until I decide where I am going to be based.

For the next 2-3 years, it looks like I will be spending my time between OZ, Thailand, and France. So I’m after a path of « less hassles » when it comes to choosing a Thai visa.

We got the condo till 8 February (date when I’m going back to OZ), but it’s through Airbnb (I provided the Airbnb document when I applied for STV and they seemed happy with it).

Based on your experience, you reckon it will satisfy the Immigration people here ?

And my insurance is valid until 10 February.

Would it be also preferable to do a 90 day report before I rock up to immigration ?

well, the Canberra consulate told me in July before I left OZ ( I got here on 19 July)to go and see the Immigration.

When I arrived, the immigration officer stamped my passport until 16 October ( the normal 90 day period). When I asked him whether he could confirm I could get subsequent 90 day extensions, he said I should go to the Immigration office. I’m not sure he understood what I was asking 😊

I haven’t been to Immigration yet. I guess I should do it asap and will relay the info here.

By the way, would you know what documents I need to extend the visa ?

If I can’t get an extension, I’ll then do a border run and apply for a 60 day tourist visa. Such a pain in the neck though !

i thought the STV was being phased out by the end of September this year. Isn’t it not the case ? That’s the visa I got in with and my first 90 days end on 16 October. I thought I will then have to do a border run and get a tourist visa ( I planned to stay until 8 February, so hopefully sth can be worked out)
