but you might need a work permit to open a bank account. It depends really, but I think there are ways to open an account just have to go talk to the bank

You don't need a bank for a visa

You can get a 60 day visa in America if you live in New York or LA and can get to Thai consulate. Then extend that for 30 days and get 90 days. You can also do Visa runs in Thailand through visa agencies. I wouldn't book any flights too far in advanced, or if you have to show evidence of a return flight, book a random refundable flight to singapore or something and then just cancel it once youre on the plane to thailand and get your refund. Simple.
