there is a difference between a visa and a stay permit. The visa lets you ENTER the country, the stay permit lets you STAY in the country . . . .actually TWO ROSES, not one. The visa you entered with, expired the very moment when you entered
I was asked in my visa advice group by a German/Thai gay couple who are married legally in Germany, if they can get the dependent spouse visa for Thailand. They had visited Immigration, but it seems there haven't been set any rules regarding same sex marriages, yet
you didn't "renew your retirement visa". You only applied for the next "1-year extended stay permit based on retirement". You do not have a "visa" any more
a re-entry only keeps the stay permit it was bought and issued for, alive until its expiry date. There is no rule for how long you can stay abroad - when you re-enter, you will only be stamped in until the original stay permit expiry
What I wrote is true - at least for the moment! I didn't say that this will last forever.
A similar decrete had been in effect in 2023, it lasted for 2 months and then banks went back to the old rule, allowing agents to open bank accounts on touristic entries.
Now if you don’t believe me, why not call a few agents? At least for the moment, they will confirm what I am saying
