I have used Bangkok Bank for 10 years. My routine is to ask for a 12 month statement from the last extension date. This has to be ordered from Head Office therefore falls short. The day before going to Immigration, I go to the bank for a 6 month statement, immediate, as is the letter to show I am the owner of the account and the amount in it. Job done! 2 statements and 1 letter which is the requirement for the extension of stay based on retirement and 800k in a separate account. Never had any problem with this.

I think you are right. There is more to this than the OP is stating.

I bank with them and have done for 10 years with no problems at all. Always manage to get my statements and letter with no drama at all.

No need to report when out of the country. The clock restarts when you arrive back in Thailand. That day counts as number 1.

Sylvia Corley yes they do. But on return home there is no need to do one in Hua Hin where I live.

Stuart Chiverton your immigration office is dictated by TM30. So if he gets one from Hua Hin, then that is the office he must attend.

Only problem I can see with this scenario is that you are going to be tied to Bangkok for extensions etc. Ideally you need to go and do this at Hua Hin if that is where you are going to be living. The trip to do all this at Hua Hin will save a lot of hassle later.

My family is with AIA. Very good company, reasonable prices and no problem with paying out claims.

Robert Graham you can still do 800k for the first extension in the bank method whilst you are making the monthly deposits. Then at the next extension you are just showing the 12 monthly deposits and not the 800k.
