Did you have any luck opening an account? We are heading to Thailand in another month hoping to open an account in Phuket and wondering what we need to show? Thanks
if we enter on the 30 day visa exempt, open bank accounts apply for the 90 day non-O immediately, can we apply for the 1 year extension as soon as the money has been in our accounts for 2 months? Or do we have to wait the full 90 days? This coming trip we will be in Thailand 10-11 weeks. Trying to figure out if we apply this time or next trip in September. And if we do wait to apply how many times can we renew the 30 days? I know it has changed since we left in November. We can't apply for a 60 day tourist visa as we are not flying direct from Canada to Thailand. Many thanks.
thanks for the reply, one of the issues we are running into is our home country is technically HK and we can’t get back in! Have emailed the embassy again to see if we can sort it out. Did you apply from the US for both of you, one as a trailing spouse?
Sorry to bother you again, am I correct that we can enter on a regular tourist visa, apply for the non-O (valid for 90 days), assuming that gets approved apply for retirement extension of 1 year? We are both over 50 and have the funds. If we only have 11 weeks in Thailand before returning to Canada for 2 months should we set up the bank account in April and apply for the non-O in September? I think that is what I am understanding? Are we still able to apply for an extension of stay beyond the 30 days if we are planning on being there from early April to the end of June? We are currently locked out of HK and I have not heard back from the Vancouver consulate if we can apply for the 90 day visa from outside our "home country" - I am Canadian and my husband is western but holds a HKSAR passport. Thank you so much.
Were you successful in obtaining your retirement visas? Would you mind if I PM you a few questions? We are debating applying from Vancouver with my husband as the trailing spouse or waiting and applying from within Thailand.
