Just asked at cw about overstay as my new passport took nearly ten weeks to arrive resulting in 16 days overstay. The fine is five hundred baht a day up to and including the day you apply up to a maxium of

baht.If you go over 40 days you are asked to leave the country and upon return re apply. Which could be a major problem.Was told at the passport office that British passports are now taking twelve weeks to replace also the office in the trendy building is only open two days a week for three and a half hours,So if you need replacement passport go at least 3 months in advance.
