TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for a Thai driving license, it's generally required to present a certificate of residence from immigration, even if you have a blue book or condo deeds. While some users reported success with the yellow house book and a pink ID card, others emphasized the importance of the residence certificate, especially since requirements can change frequently. To ensure compliance, it's best to obtain the residence certificate as many officials may ask for it.

If you have it you won't need it. And of course if you don't have it they will ask for it first thing.

Yes, I needed a certificate of residence and it had to say it was for a driver license. I also needed a separate one for the motorcycle license.

You can make a copy if your getting two licenses and a copy of your medical certificate

Incorrect. You need 2 separate resident certificates. One stating Car and one stating Bike. And they are only valid for 30 days.

Are you sure. Resident Certificates cannot be copies, originals only.

You might have a blue book but it won't have your name in it. Only Thais go in a blue book. Regardless you will need a residence certificate from immigration and apply medical certificate from a surgery, along with your passport
Phil *******
Yellow house book for foreigner and then you can get Thai foreigner ID card as well . You can use them both for driving licence.

DLT's own regulations on their website show it is required, and I can confirm it was needed when I renewed my license this week. Either residence certificate or work permit book are accepted.
