thank you very much. I’ll give it a go once I land on Wednesday.

yes, I’m a part of that group too. I’ve sent that video to my wife and she has no idea. I just figured it would be easier if we both went to immigration the next day. Bring her rental agreement, ID etc.

that’s how I’ve done it in the past, when only staying for 30 days. Didn’t even bother. Never gave me any issues when I went back for the 30 day extension. This time I’m planning on staying for approximately a year. I want to do everything the correct way from the beginning.

The main problem with the one way ticket is the staff at your departing airport. Some won’t let you board the plane without proof of you leaving Thailand before the 30 days. They don’t care about the ability to extend your stay. They are only concerned about you having the proof of leaving.

There are many cheap options. I usually just book a flight to Vietnam. If I use it cool, if not, oh well. It saves the hassle trying to board the plane.

you did say retirement. It was a suggestion. After visiting Hua Hin, I got the feeling it was a retirement location.

Thank you for your detailed reply.

I do plan on moving to Thailand permanently, but not at this time.

I’m looking to spend a few months or so there on this trip.

I wasn’t aware that I could apply for the 60 day visiting Thai family visa inside of Thailand.

Off the top of your head. Do you know what the requirements are for that?

Thanks.

there isn’t any place to register yet. It’s still all talk. It’s going in front of the cabinet this week. I’m sure everything will be a bit more clear later this week or early next week.
