I use a pre-paid VERY inexpensive per-minute VOIP phone service called YOLLA. Not nearly as involved as Skype. Been working great for 6 months now. But, I use it for calls to the USA. I do not know how well it would work to down under.

Well......it does take a while for national directives to reach to outlying border post via mule ya know. Ha Ha!

I liked living in Jomtien beach OK, but the prices of a decent sized condo was a bit much. I could not take living in a 28 sq meter shoebox, especially with a Thai GF also.
