What specific forms do I need to apply for a Non-O retirement visa in Thailand?

I need to know the exact forms I need to apply for the non-o retirement visa please.

I tried going to the Jomtien immigration office yesterday, but it was total mayhem there. Long cues everywhere and I could not figure out which line to get in to get the blank forms. I asked for a bit of help from a couple English speakers and they were no help.

My two bad knees will not allow me to stand forever in multiple cues. Getting the two knees replaced in BKK this month.

Anyway, I am now trying to download and print out the forms. Am I guessing right in that the first form would be the TM88?

What other forms would I need please?

I am pretty well up on the mechanics and procedures of the actual process.........but I do need to know which particular forms to get filled out.

THANKS!

did you read what you need for the "change of visa type" from a tourist visa to a 90-days Non-Imm-O retirement visa? Go use an agent service, mate. Easy peasy. Don't stress yerself with the qeues at the Jomtien Immigratrion. Why would you bother? You need a minimum of 800,000.- THB deposit on your Thai bank account, though, to be able to apply for the "change". You can't use the "income method". And Jomtien is special in requirements - they pull out of their nose a rule that for the application to the change you need the monmey seasoned. Which is NOT part of the police order, that says you only need to prove it is sitting in the account. The 2-monmth seasoning proof is only needed when you change the 90-days visa to the 1-year extension of stay . .

Thanks for that good link. I do not mind putting the money in a Thai bank account (which I already have). I figure it is a good time to purchase Thai baht anyway at the current exchange rates.

I will not mind so much dealing with the immigration office after I heal up. All I gotta do is remember how much money I am saving by not using an agent if I ever get frustrated. I love saving money when I can. Plus I have a lotta time on my hands, thank God.

Plus I will have my Thai GF to be with me and help me negotiate the maze in the upcoming visits.

I do appreciate your input though! Thanks!

Thanks for the tip, but I am trying to avoid using them. I would not mind using them for the first application, but from what I can gleen is doing that ties a person to hiring them again every year. I could be wrong, I dont know.

totally understand. It's a nice backup to have it frustrated. Otherwise, work your way thru the process. It's not horrible, but many find it too frustrating

Thank you for that very helpful info! Yes, I failed to mention I am on a 6 month METV tourist visa. I had seen that download site, but I could not determine which exact form(s) I needed.

Then you apply on a TM.86. It’s quite straight forward if can meet the requirements. You’ll need to apply minimum 15 days before your current stamp expires. The fee is 2000 thb and this is the requirements, you’ll also need a copy of your TM.30.

gave you the correct answer. You apply for a Non O on TM.86 if you’re on a tourist visa and TM.87 if you’re on visa exemption. (TM.7 is just for extension of stay). You can download both here;

Why do I see these simple questions asked over and over. Go on line to the thai immigration site and educate yourself. Than, if your confused and thats pretty normal, ask some questions to verify. But to me, simply posting "what do I do" without first making some effort to see what is needed is lazy and assumes that someone else is here to hold your hand and be your mommy.

Sorry it is tm7.

The TM7 is to request an Extension of Stay, not apply for a Visa, what is required is the TM87 (Application for Visa) if Visa Exempt entry or TM86 (Application for Change of Visa) if on a TR60 stamp.

That’s because you already had a Non O visa. TM.7 is for extension of stays. When you apply on a Non O visa while you’re on a tourist visa you use TM.86.

I think it is tm7 you needing that application. You can find it on line in pdf or word format so if you have a laptop you could complete it and print it out. It clearly states what the form is for. Make sure you have other docs up to date tm47 and tm30. You will also need bank statements and copies of passbook, passport and a photograph. Anything in addition like a map to your residence its best to ask at your local IO. Get them to write down in thai what you need from the bank as it will make certain you get the right things.

I sent you a visa agent previously if you have any difficulties. There’s a difference regarding use of agent in this process. You can just get her to help you with paperwork and a in the applying process as long as you meet all the requirements. To use an agent to bypass the requirements is totally another thing.

Roger all that. Well, being I feel like it is a good time to buy baht anyway, I will do the self service and hope it all works out without too much fuss.

I will report back with my experiences after the deal is done. Probably in about 6 weeks.

Thanks again!

KDMS Hospital. They are a orthopedics specialist hospital. That is all they do.

They also have the semi-robotic equipment. So far I can HIGHLY recommend them. If you get them both done at once, you can save some money. The price is pretty much all-inclusive, including 5 nights in the hospital.

I will report back here after surgery with my thoughts. I pray they are good results. The success rate is something like 90 to 95% though, so the odds are very much in my favor.

while in the same building isn’t that a more expensive government approved middle man that adds money to the normal price? Like 2400 baht for a 30 day extension instead of 1900 baht down the hall? Plus you can’t pick up your pass until the next day..? Just wondering…

This is the requirements for the Phuket office. I’d assume Jomtien would be similar but it’s just an indication as I don’t have their requirements.
