Cambodia is the cheapest country to buy glasses. I have never found glasses to be cheap in Thailand.

......you have that wrong. Using an agent it is in and out of immigration in minutes. Time at the bank can take considerably longer.

......that may be for a renewal. First time takes around 4 weeks to get your passport back.

I negotiate by offering a year paid in advance with no deposit. Landlords can rarely resist that much cash in one hit. Be prepared though to do any minor repairs yourself ( I can and do ) You won't see the landlord for a year. At the end of the lease you can renew or walk away.

Most agents get it done in Pattaya. It takes around 4 weeks.
