TLDR : Answer Summary
The process of obtaining a multiple entry retirement visa through an agent can take around 4 weeks, particularly in locations like Pattaya. However, it's important to note that there is no official multiple entry retirement visa; instead, one can obtain a retirement visa with a 1-year extension and a multiple re-entry permit. It's also recommended to consider applying for a NON-O visa directly from your home country, as this could simplify the process and eliminate the need for an agent.
NON-O RETIREMENT VISA RESOURCES / SERVICES
  • Go to the Retirement Visa Section for information on requirements, including age restrictions, financial requirements, and necessary documentation.
  • For immediate assistance, contact Thai Visa Centre directly via LINE at @ThaiVisaCentre or Email them.
  • Explore recent discussions by using the Non-O Retirement Visa tag in the search box at the top of the page.
  • Join the Thai Visa Advice Facebook Group to ask your questions, and get advice from others.

The process can take weeks with an agent.

The question I have is:

do you financially qualify for the visas?

And if so, why not apply for the non-o (and possibly a dependant non-o if your embassy still allows it) from your own country before leaving?

This simplifies the process in country and there would be no need to use an agent.

If you are unable to qualify then it's understood why you need an agent.

what's a non o?

You say above you qualify financially for your retirement visas then ask what a Non-O is, are you serious?

FFS I just call it a retirement visa. Don't waste my time if you can't answer the question - which is a pretty simple one!

@Deb *******
unfortunately "what you call it" is not really what it is.

Terminology is important.

As there are other "retirement options" and non-o based on being over 50 is just one category of the 90 day non-o visa.

Strictly speaking these others

O-A, O-X, LTR are one year and more retirement visas.

We qualify.

@Deb *******
a non-o visa is the category of visa you require for over 50 based on retirement.

It sounds like you need more research to understand the visa process.

That's why we are going to use an agent.

@Deb *******
the research is simple using Embassy or Immigration websites and coming here for clarification when necessary.

Most agents get it done in Pattaya. It takes around 4 weeks.

Well if the max time is four weeks and the min. time is a day, I can work with that.

@Robert *********
4 weeks for which agent ? Most of mine have been in 3 days or less.

@Robert *********
my first one was 1 day with an agent in Bangkok. Early morning appointment and then came back after lunch to pickup.
Robert **********
@Mike ********
......that may be for a renewal. First time takes around 4 weeks to get your passport back.

@Robert *********
it was that same process for the first 90 day initial and then the 12 month initial. 1 day each time. I visited immigration for morning submission of documents and came back after lunch to pickup stamped passport.

3 days with my agent and been this way for several years

There is no multiple entry retirement visa you can get through an agent. You can get a retirement visa with a 1-year extension and a multiple re-entry permit, but that's very different from a multiple entry visa.

Do you know how long it takes to process?
Brandon ************
@Deb *******
every agent is different. Some take your passport halfways across Thailand and get you a stamp from a province you've never heard of, because that's where they have their contacts. Some take your passport and have it back to you in a few days.

@Deb *******
Do you both have 800k in Thai bank accounts in each name, if so then it's not difficult?

@Graham *****
when we arrive we will go to an agent, get them to organize the bank acct and visas. Just wondering how long the process takes, weeks, months?
Graham ******
@Deb *******
Opening a bank account takes minutes using an agent, applying for a Non-O Visa with or without an agent can take all day depending on the Immigration Office used
Robert **********
@Graham *****
......you have that wrong. Using an agent it is in and out of immigration in minutes. Time at the bank can take considerably longer.
Danny *******
@Graham *****
I think he is asking how long it take not about bank accounts, etc.
Graham ******
@Danny ******
it takes longer without the funds in place
