even if he earns zero $ in Thailand, he can file his US tax as married or head of household to get additional deductions via dependents, even more tax deductions if he has children in Thailand, even step-children. If wife spends 6 months or more in the US then he gets $500,000 usd deduction on a house sale (rather than $250,000 for singles).
I recommend you taking a trip to a large immigration center like Bangkok to get your extension done. I was given difficulty in Surin. I never had issues in Bangkok. Don't insists on at Sangkla office. You can stay one night in Bangkok, have your hotel report you to immigration and get the tm30 letter from hotel then visit the immigration center..
every officer has a different attitude in thailand. A few months ago one officer declined me, I walked-in when I saw him leave the office and got my extension done swiftly. You just have to deal with another officer, if can't just travel to the nearest friendly center and apply there.
yes, exactly true. Female IO said it is my last extension on March 10 th, then even asked me to provide her a date of return to USA. I gave a random date but I am absolutely sure I will get another 60-day extension on May 11th. Moreover, I firmly believe there will be a few more 60-day covid19 extensions beyond the May 25th deadline. IOs at BKK and at other offices are not aware of the basis of the policy decision and they are inclined to think in same mindset as in the pre-covid era when Thailand was receiving an average of 85 million tourists a year.
so no one can write their honest neutral opinion/suggestion in a FB group,.. your genius (or compromised) brain will take care all of the issues brought to your attention. The post did not say the elderly couple specifically wants to live in Thailand.. So shut up!
Turkey is much closer to them, cheaper than Thailand, has much better health care system and has 4-seasons as well, not to mention all the sunny beaches.
foregive my naiveness. I kind of see the logic of wanting to having a permanent residency in thailand but I can't grasp why somone wanna gain Thai citizenship. What is the advantage other than being able to purchase a land?
