Asking for a friendโs parents. They are Ukrainian couple (elderly) who have been affected by the situation in Ukraine. I Googled but got no information whether it is possible for them to enter Thailand and stay here by applying for a retirement visa.
Any ideas?
Thank you in advance!
P.S. They have got enough money (THB800,000).

TLDR : Answer Summary
Inquiring about the possibility for an elderly Ukrainian couple to enter Thailand and apply for a retirement visa, it seems they can indeed do so under certain conditions. To qualify for a Non-O retirement visa, they would need fiscal proof of at least THB 800,000 which must be transferred into their Thai bank account from overseas, and maintained for at least two months prior to their visa application. They may also enter Thailand on a tourist visa first and then transition to a retirement visa. Additionally, they might consider applying for asylum due to the current conflict in Ukraine.

Turkey is much closer to them, cheaper than Thailand, has much better health care system and has 4-seasons as well, not to mention all the sunny beaches.
After you dude. I am not offended. Only you alone that's why you need to insult. I just told you the facts. Truth hurts that's why you only see insults as solution.
Hey use the search option. I am sure there are alot of Turkey grops on FB. Why don't you go there?
so no one can write their honest neutral opinion/suggestion in a FB group,.. your genius (or compromised) brain will take care all of the issues brought to your attention. The post did not say the elderly couple specifically wants to live in Thailand.. So shut up!
do you have any confirmation of that or is it conjecture? Producing the bank book has always been a requirement for me along with bank letter. If it's not shown correctly no chance
After paying close attention to immigration matters for the last eight years this is the first I've heard about this. I think you will find that immigration accepts only bank letters and bank statements to prove the foreign origin of funds.
Think they would be better claiming asylum due to the war

Bring them in on single entry tourist visas that they get from the thai consulate in their country before they come here, that will stamp them in for 60 days, get them to get their bank accounts open, get the 800K baht each transferred in to each of their accounts and go to the immigration office to apply for a 90 day Non-O visa based on being over 50 (retirement) for 2000baht.
THEN once they get that they let their money stay in the account for 2 months and go back and apply for the year extension for 1900baht based on retirement. Then they're set for a year.
again false information, ๐ while the person WITH the 800K baht in the account could get a 90 day Non-O visa based on retirement, and then the year extension. Their spouse could not ๐ because you can't get a 90 day Non-O visa inside the country based on being married to someone on a retirement visa ๐ no offices will issue it.
IF they're not comin' in with Non-O visas their only option is to BOTH meet the requirements and each have their own retirement visas
If they wish to have independent visas, regardless of being married, they can do so, and it is B800,000 each deposited in the bank for the appropriate time. It means that they both recognise and agree the visa regulations, regardless of their spouseโs situation. Otherwise, one piggy-backs on the other, so it is B800,000 per couple.
There is no such thing as a 30 day tourist visa ๐
KNOW what you're talking about before you post.
People from 51 countries (of which Ukraine is one) can show up here without having bought a visa from a thai consulate before they come here yet get stamped in for FREE for 30 days on what's called a Visa Exempt Entry. <- It is NOT a 30 day tourist visa ๐ it's not ANY visa, it's just a free entry stamp
If they are married itโs 800.000 for both of them (not each). Must be in bank prior 2 months before. Can also monthly income not less than 65.000 baht, or combination of the two. Can have OA visa ( non immigrant based on retirement) in country of origin, or O non immigrant in Thailand.
Kool *******
The only problem they might face doing that, as long as they are old enough, is the bt800,000. It must be transferred into each of their Thai bank accounts from an overseas source. They can not just deposit into their accounts. It must be transferred in.
I "follow" my husband's retirement visa so we only need the bt800,000 but if we each get a separate visa it is bt800,000 a piece. We have had this visa for over 4 years and have not had any problems.
