TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is facing difficulties at the Songkla immigration office while trying to extend their visa by 60 days. Concerns revolve around the officer's lack of explanation regarding Covid-19 visa extensions, leading to a stressful situation with only 9 days left on their current visa. Comments suggest exploring other immigration offices, utilizing visa agents, or traveling to a nearby location to resolve the issue.

You have a decent chance to get another 60-days in bangkok.

I recommend you taking a trip to a large immigration center like Bangkok to get your extension done. I was given difficulty in Surin. I never had issues in Bangkok. Don't insists on at Sangkla office. You can stay one night in Bangkok, have your hotel report you to immigration and get the tm30 letter from hotel then visit the immigration center..

with the border now open, there are no restrictions to go home easily. 20k infections a day is actually a very low number. Infections in Thailand are slightly higher than that, so why do you want to stay in Thailand? It is not any safer. Most likely the next stamp you will get from immigration is a 7 days to leave Thailand stamp, as there are no restrictions, or difficulty, in returning to Malaysia. Cross the border, get your ThaiPass, and covid insurance, and return on a tourist visa. Remember, if you get mad at immigration they will refuse you everytime. A covid extension is up to immigration in every case. It is not automatic. Also remember that all immigration computers are on the same network, so every immigration has your records if they flagged you to leave.

If you can’t get a covid extension by yourself just pay 6,000 baht and let an agent do it for you…

You don’t have much time left because of songkran holidays.

Always do visa process at least 30 days in advance don’t wait too long.

the prices differ it might be 8,000 at your location.

In pattaya it’s around 6,000. I don’t know any agents in songkla to make a recommendation. Only pattaya.

Sorry bro as far as I understand Thailand is cutting tourist with covid visa extension and they're trying to restart the country through kicking out all of covid extensions. Their solution is so simple. Go out of the country and comeback with a tourist/NonB/Ed visa with hotel booking and insurance then apply for a Thai pass. You go to Cambodia or Vietnam for visa on arrival if you don't wanna go back to your country.

make up your mind and think what's your next move. It will be pricey else stay in Cambodia for the meantime then extend.

It is normal practice. They want to give you pressure so that you use a visa agent. Just keep going there every day.

What nationality are you?

What visa did you enter Thailand on.

Have you had any covid extensions already

Immigration does not have to give you a covid extension it is up to the immigration officers.

how am I not eligible even without trying ? I ask this group few times . They don’t provide me a solid reason . My country got more than 20k cases of Covid daily . Isn’t this a solid reason to stay thailand longer ?

So why can’t you go back if you’d country is getting more than 20k cases of covid a day, no different than what Thailand is getting.

If immigration have said there not giving you any more extensions then you have to leave the country.

there is no entitlement to a Covid extension, they are available purely at the discretion of the officer you talk to at the time. The number of Covid cases in your home country has nothing to do with it. Sounds like you got off on the wrong foot with them. I'd try going back in a day or so and hopefully talk to a different immigration officer, be polite and respectful and see how you get on. But if you've been here a long time you might struggle.

if you have only ever had a 60 day tourist visa and a 30 day extension for that then you are certainly eligible to apply for a Covid extension. But they are not an entitlement, they are perfectly within their rights to refuse to provide one. Given you say you've already tried to get one 4 times I'd say it's time to be realistic and return to Malaysia. Should be easy for you now the border is open, which may well be why they're refusing the Covid extension. Once there you can apply for a fresh tourist visa and come back.

every officer has a different attitude in thailand. A few months ago one officer declined me, I walked-in when I saw him leave the office and got my extension done swiftly. You just have to deal with another officer, if can't just travel to the nearest friendly center and apply there.
