What about people who had flights canceled and can’t leave? Not surprised by the way Immigration in Thailand does business anyways. They don’t follow the law. They deny people with Tourist visas with lies saying “you are only allowed 2 tourist visas per year” or some BS like that. So I think the Thai economy suffered so much from loss of revenue that they somehow need to make their money back by charging overstay fees with whoever decides to stay in Thailand after the Amnesty goes away.

Unlikely because you don’t know what the requirements are to actually get back IN to Thailand. So even if borders opened to Laos and you enter the country, get a visa, they could say that you need to provide a negative covid 19 test result before being able to enter Thailand again

@Billy ******
What type of visa entry did you have before you went on the amnesty? If it was tourist visa did you apply for a 30 day extension of the 60 day entry from it?

I assume you are wanting to apply for a 90 day non immigrant visa (category O) to qualify for a extension of stay based upon retirement.

Here the requirements to do a application for one.

No country allows tourists to just stay in the country for as long as they want to. Thailand was generous enough to give 4 months to stay put. Can you really blame them if they don’t extend it

“If you’re in Thailand on a visa that expired AFTER March 26, your permission to stay is now extended until July 31” If your Visa expired before March 26, then you will owe overstay fines for however many days you overstayed until March 26.

If you arrived in November with just the 30 day visa (visa exempt) and extended that, then your visa would have expired in January. The amnesty only covers people who have a stamp expiring after 26 March and onward.

Probably because the Amnesty wasn’t considered a real extension, so no one has to pay for that, but used as an emergency extension for people to get out of Thailand, so that’s one of the reasons why I feel like the Government isn’t going to give more time after 31 July because they think that this was enough time for people to get flights out of the country. It’s like when Immigration denies an extension, but gives you a stamp saying you have an additional 7 days to leave the country.

That awkward moment when we realize that no country wants us except whatever passport we have and that’s where we are forced to go back to
Matt *******
To be fair they aren’t forcing you to leave. They allowed you to stay longer than usual without having to leave the country since March. 5 months to be in Thailand for free to plan your trip was more than enough time for people to get their plans sorted out. The amnesty wasn’t created for you to live in Thailand.

It’s also a good way to actually live in thailand during this whole pandemic without having to leave the country. not sure if you noticed but no one is going to pay for a flight back home when it's possible stay inside thailand for as long as possible
