If Person A has a valid SETV and decides to buy a re-entry permit before traveling out/back in internationally at DMK, would you say he is still at risk for being turned away upon returning? Has anyone ever been denied entry after buying a re-entry permit? Compared to Person B, who has a valid SETV, BUT... decides to let the visa die when he travels out/back in hoping to get a 30 day visa exempt stamp? Are both still at risk or does Person A have a better chance because of the re-entry permit?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Person A, who has a valid SETV and buys a re-entry permit, may have a better chance of re-entering Thailand compared to Person B, who lets their visa expire to seek a 30-day visa exempt entry. However, both individuals are still at risk of being questioned by immigration officers, especially if they have a complicated visa history. Ultimately, the outcome may depend on the immigration officer's discretion.

There is no way to predict IF a person with a re-entry permit would have an easier time stamping in to the country than one tryin' to come in on a visa exempt entry.

It's way more the mood of the officer & your previous entry history.

If you have a history of using various visas, border runs, and extensions you can be questioned upon seeking entry by Thai Immigration...at any time.

Beware and be prepared if you have such a history Matt - as you appear from postings to be worried, and have asked about it numerous times.

Its time for a Plan B.

Good Luck.
