Definitely want to confirm no restrictions on land border crossings. I crossed (Bangkok-Siem Reap) once at the end of December, again in mid-February, and will cross again in June. In between all of that - and including the Thailand/Cambodia crossings - would have been in Vietnam for 75 days, Japan to pick up a cruise ship that ends in Los Angeles, and then flying back to Bangkok to cross again to get back to Siem Reap. I don't currently live in Cambodia, but I am going to be looking at the extended visa next time instead of getting the tourist visa.

Take the Giant Ibis bus to Siem Reap, enjoy Angkor, then after a week or two come back. Get stamped in for another 60 while having enjoyed Cambodian hospitality. That way it doesn't look like you're doing a border run.

exactly! I'm at the mall now and printed everything out (Bangkok hotel and DMK-DAD air) plus I have extra copies of my Vietnam Visa.

as I had mentioned in my original post, this was an unexpected last minute detour that just came up.

I had already booked my airfare from DMK well before leaving from Siem Reap in mid-January as I had intended on staying for the full 60 days in Bangkok.

However, as much as I love it here another two weeks just wasn't in the cards knowing that I'll be back in mid-November anyway.

No big deal back-tracking to Bangkok in early March to fly out, I was just curious about how immigration would look at this back-and-forth. I'll have my confirmations and reservations handy in case they ask.

having planned to leave from DMK I've already purchased a ticket on Giant Ibis from Siem Reap.

I'm wondering if I should just bite the bullet and forfeit the ticket from Don Mueang and do as you mentioned and flying from Siem Reap. Just smh how my plans changed so quickly and I'll be out $147.

unfortunately I already have the ticket from DMK. My original plans were to stay in Bangkok until March 4th, but I sort of got tired of the noise here and decided to go back to Angkor for two weeks.

interesting. My intention is not to do a border run, but to use it specifically to cross the border en route from one destination to the other (on Giant Ibis). I'm only using the Thailand visa for 60 days before moving onwards, no real desire to stay here for any extended length of time.

curious as to why this should be avoided. Is that only for border runs? I've only ever crossed here once in a Giant Ibis bus en route from Bangkok to Siem Reap for a 16-day stay, but then flew back.
