I applied through the e-visa online, pretty much all embassies are now online. I went through the London embassy, very simple application

I also am going to be in thailand in April but for this visit I have a 60 day tourist visa which only took 3 days to get approved as I didn't want to risk my visit

you need to show 80k US dollars passive income (there are other ways if you read the LTR requirements) to be eligible to apply for an LTR the DTV is much simpler

has said you need 800k baht for the first extension, for the 2nd extension you can use monthly income as long as it has been in the account for a full 12 months. The non o visa they get online in the USA is for 90 days only, the first extension on this visa requires the money in a thai bank account

I would suggest you look into non o retirement visas for you and your husband applying in your own country before you arrive. You then need to open a bank account each and deposit 800k baht in each one to allow you to apply for an extension each while in thailand. For your daughter since she will need her own visa, she may want to look into a dtv using a soft power i.e. learn maui thai or an approved cooking course this would give her 5 years so time to look at further options, her child could be linked to her dtv.

Since you will need a bank account and without a long term visa it will be very difficult I would apply for a non o visa ( retirement i.e. over 50) through the London embassy now before you go. This should give you 90 days in thailand and give you the best chance to open a bank account when you arrive. You can then deposit the required funds to get your extension inside thailand. With a non O visa you can then just organise your departure flight and worry about your return flight when you are in thailand as this visa will be accepted for one way travel i.e. no return or onward travel required. This will give you the best chance to set yourself up when you arrive

Your visa has to be used within the 3 month period. Your 90 days will start at the point you enter thailand in April

As uk passport holders you will get a 60 day visa exempt stamp (not a visa on arrival) and yes you will be able to extend for 30 days at a local immigration office when in thailand, you can exit and when re entering at the discretion of the thai immigration officer stamp you in for another 60 days + 30 extension. Typically when flying out of the uk the airline will more than likely as for your return flight or an onward flight within the first 60days, it is also possible thai immigration will ask when you enter thailand. You could if you know you dates for leaving and re entering apply for 6 month multi entry visa in the uk which will allow you to come and go within the 6 month period
