When we applied for our retirement visa , I paid for multiple entry so I can go in and out Thailand without worrying about it . We could have done it at the airport but I figure what if we forgot ....:::
We're US citizens , left Hawaii in Jan 2022 , acquired retirement visa w/ multiple entry good for 15 months at the beginning then afterwards we renew every 12 months if we desire . Hubby is retired military, I'm not by US standard but since I'm 50 , I qualify . We kept a 5th wheel , home on wheels @ Thousand trails for back up . Always gotta have a back up just in case , like having money in a savings account . Hubby has health insurance thru the military and it covers us internationally . Thailand by far is economically and financially do able than the US . One of the beauty about Thailand is you can take your time trying to figure out where to settle . At the moment we settled in Koh Tao .
, sure I found it easy to open an Accnt in Chang Mai . My friend had an Accnt w Kasikorn bank in Chang Mai and they didn't require a letter from Immigration . I think each bank have their own rules and some require more paperwork and others none . My friend was on a tourist visa from China
. I live in Koh Tao and I was in Chang Mai for about 3 months so I got a receipt from the hotel I was staying at as proof . I took the contract with me to Immigration and I got a TM30 .
Opening an Accnt in Chang Mai was super easy for me . I just went to Bangkok Bank , found out what I needed to open an Accnt , went to Immigration , got a letter of residence , paid 500 baht to expedite it , picked up my letter the next and I got a bank Accnt . Super easy . Visa agent offered to do it for me for 10 x the amount but no thanks , I'll do it myself . I was on a tourist visa
