 I barely showed any financial ties.

Just asked for 3 months and they gave 12 months multi entry.

I think they are biased based on who you are and your financial level in aus. Didn't seem like any issues getting mine compared to friends in the UK and USA.

 apply for less time, I have gotten aus tourist visas approved multiple times. Never ask for 12 month visa. Ask for less and they'll give more.

They can still pull you up and do serious questioning, this will almost always = missing your flight.

Can't have elite visa and run a local business/ or work permit.

Elite is for people who making money outside the country or already made there money.

You're best off setting up a Thai company hiring some locals and sponsoring your own visa through the company.
