In addition to some of the suggestions above, you may of course Book a Fully Refundable Ticket, and then cancel after arrival (though you will need to wait for refund/credit).

BTW - Many major Credit Cards also include free limited Travel Insurance when you book your travel on the card -- e.g. Trip Delay, Lost Luggage etc. Check your Bank Card's website for details. I've successfully made claims in past and been reimbursed, though not without a lot of pushing.

Ya, b/c like you said didn't have a receipt (and it happened over 5 years ago????). btw -- just b/c an airline denies your claim, isn't the end of the road. That's what Courts are for.

Likewise, if not his fault and fault of airline, then he can claim reimbursement from airline.

Ha ya new if new means living abroad and traveling the World for past 12+ years., and that includes living in Thailand seasonally (3-4mos) for same time, and well aware of the law. It was your Reply that was silly .... as written. If you had said, what you said to in reply to my Post, would have made much more sense. But, you did give me a good chuckle. So thank you for that.
