every Thai Embassy advise the same. Just because you haven’t had any problems doesn’t mean anything. IDP in Thailand is required by law, and where did you get IDP only required if your licence isn’t in English? Who told you that?

You need an International driving permit, and they drive on the left hand side of the road in Thailand.

Bob D'Andrea yes the visa is valid for 90 days from the date of issue for a stay of 60 days with the possibility of a 30 day extension.

not correct Bob, the visa is valid for 60 days with an option to apply for a 30 day extension which isn’t guaranteed.

I use ANZ but any bank will have similar. Just ask which cards provide complimentary travel insurance.
