ahh yes - it might in addition to that help with a proof of residence from immi (some offices charge 500 baht - others less). If problems with the banks I would use an agent for getting a bank account.

well now we have 60 days visa exempt + 30 days there's no point really for a non o if it's just for a time limited visit I think

you say no 90 days visa. A non o visa gives you permission to stay 90 days.

not sure that's quite right - I heard from a UK citizen that one of his transfers were delayed a couple of days (because of the bank) and his renewal was rejected because of no payment that month. They would not accept they could see 2 payments the following month. But again - each office their own rules more or less
