hi today I applied for 1 year permission to stay. I got the under consideration stamp of course. Can I be certain that it will be approved? The reason for asking is that I have to return to immi the very day I would have to leave Thailand according to my arrival stamp!

TLDR : Answer Summary
After applying for a one-year permission to stay, receiving an 'under consideration' stamp generally indicates a positive outcome is expected. While it is not guaranteed approval, the immigration office typically wouldn't accept the application unless they anticipated it would be granted. It is advisable to return on the date stamped in your passport to submit any required follow-up, and you should not be at risk of overstaying your visa during this process.

You don't need to worry. They wouldn't have accepted your application if you weren't going to get your extension. Just go back on the day stamped in your passport and get your extension. You won't go on overstay. Sometimes they'll even tell you it's still not ready yet and give you a new date. Although quite rare, you still wouldn't be on overstay.
I have to comment on this again. It is so strange. I was supposed to leave Thailand sep 1 which is 3 months after my arrival. The officer stamped under consideration and I must return October 1! This I consider overstay 1 month. I discovered it late at home yesterday and wrote to them on Line saying I would be overstaying and shouldn't it be sep 1 I should get my visa. The answer today was OCT 1 and it seems I will not be overstaying since he referred to the stamp. Ever heard of this???

Your under consideration stamp is basically the first bit of your extension already. If you were to be stopped and asked to show your passport, your under consideration stamp would be your permission to be in Thailand.
Me think he did the "change of visa type", the fee would be 2000.- THB, and the 90-days Non-Imm O "married to a Thai wife" visa will always be handed out for 14 days "under consideration". He didn't apply for the extension, yet. And when applying for the "change", it often occurs that the handing over of the actual 90-days stamp after the "under consideration" period, is already outside the initially stamped stay permit. The requirement just says that when applying for the change, you must still have a minimum of 15 days left on your stay permit. So, i guess he got the number of days wrong by a low count
you guess wrong - no change visa type. You apparently think I don't know what I am doing. I am here on a non-o based on marriage and I want permission to stay 1 year and that's what I applied for. 1st document was tm7
I am following visa advice groups since 12 years and I don't know of any report of someone whose application to an extension of stay based on the marriage to a Thai wife was rejected
When one applies for the “1-year Extension of stay” from out of a 90-days Non-Imm-O married to a Thai wife visa, it will always get issued on 4 weeks “under consideration”
Immigration will visit you at home during this period, they will ask your neighbours and just make sure your marriage is for real
On the day mentioned on the “under consideration” stamp you will be able to visit immigration to pick up your passport with the extension stamp
You could ask Immigration when they come to your home, if they would be willing to hand your passport back before the due date of the “under consideration” period . . . and don't forget to buy a re-entry permit for 1000.- THB so the extension doesn't become invalid when you exit Thailand
He said 1 year in his post, so that led me to believe he did the extension. But it's possible he did the conversion. Should still have received a receipt either way though.
