I would imagine so, but in practice do they just keep giving you fixed amounts of time? Just as a background, my company (of which I am a director and shareholder) is involved in a criminal lawsuit as a plaintiff. There is a preliminary hearing scheduled in February.

Thanks, Tod. I posted previously, but my situation is such that due to company (and other) issues I was unable to get the 400K into my account to season it before my visa expires at the end of October. I was advised at the time I posted before to do a COVID extension at the end of October and then do another 1-year extension (I do now have the 400K, or at least will by the end of the month). However, until COVID, I almost always did my visas overseas since I travel a lot for business and I actually prefer to do them overseas because the process is generally much simpler than the in-country extension. So I was just inquiring about that possibility now since it looks like I'll be able to travel again fairly soon.

OK, so if I go on a business trip (which I plan to do), I can come back in on a tourist stamp and convert it?

I entered on a Non-O obtained at Savannakhet and am currently on a 1-year extension obtained in-country at CW.

@Benjamin *****
Thanks. In the worst case, I do travel for work and it seems like they’re trying to open up again. I’m fully vaccinated so I could always consider going on a quick business trip and doing the whole process again when I come back in.

@Benjamin *****
So in your opinion, can I do a 60-day extension to visit family followed by another 1-year extension? I suppose a trip to CW might be in order to discuss with them.

@Monti *******
I do not have a work permit. I own a company overseas.

@Ellie ******
It’s confusing. I had a valid visa until Oct 2020, but was the kind you get overseas that requires exit and re-entry every 90 days. Due to COVID that was impossible, so I think it was a COVID extension, not one to visit family.

So to answer
@Ellie ******
’s question, it doesn’t look like I ever did a 60-day extension on this visa.

My 1-year extension was granted allowing me to stay until the end of October 2021.
