What Documents Are Required for a 60-Day Extension on a Non-O Visa in Thailand?

Hello, I have a Non-O based on marriage, the type that requires me to exit and reenter every 90 days. I was supposed to exit on May 9th but am now on amnesty. The actual visa expires on October 23rd. It seems that I can get a 60-day extension and I am thinking of heading out to CW today to take care of it. Is there someone here who has done it and can tell me the docs needed? Also, will doing the 60-day extension impact my ability to do a 1-year extension when the visa expires or switch to another type of visa (e.g. a work permit)?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A Non-O visa based on marriage requires an exit and re-entry every 90 days. To obtain a 60-day extension, you need to prepare various documents including your passport, marriage certificate, your wife's ID and house book, lease agreement, and filled application form. It's important to have at least 400,000 Baht in your wife's bank account for the 1-year extension application process. You should expect a wait at the immigration office, so arriving early is advisable.

No appointment (can you make one?). Showed up at 10:00 am and had queue number 85 (was on 20 when we arrived). Got to the head of the queue shortly after lunch. My recommendation would be to go as early as possible.

Also, IMPORTANT NOTE! We asked the IO if I can do another 60-day extension if the borders stay closed, and she said no. She told me to come back on the 14th of September and do a 1-year extension, and to do that I needed to transfer 400,000 from my wife’s account to mine TODAY to keep it there for the next 2 months. (She is still upset about it.😬😬)

Oh, she’s a real saver (one of the things I really love about her) and has MUCH MORE than that. She’s been crying about the 400K outflow for the last 2 hours!

Mission accomplished!👍👍Now have a 60-day extension to Sep 14th. Needed to bring wife and give copies of: application, passport bio page, passport visa page, passport entry stamp page, wife’s ID, wife’s tambien baan, marriage certificate, kor ror 2, wife’s name change certificate, condo lease agreement. landlord’s ID and tambien baan. They DID NOT ask about TM30.

If you want to do a 1 year extension at the end of rhe 60 day extension make sure you have the required 400k Baht in a Thai bank account before you get the 60 day extension. Money must be in account for 2 months before you apply for the 1 year extension. Of course if the boaders are open before the 60 day extension runs out (not sure this is likely) then you can bounce and continue to use your visa. But best to be prepared

Yes, made the transfer of 400,000 today so it will be there exactly 2 months when I go back to do the 1-year extension.

Also take the owners ID copy and housebook if you're renting. This was a big issue for us and took a little sorting!

Had to ask my landlord for it and managed to print it during lunch. But yea, you need the ID, tambien baan and lease agreement.

I don't know to be honest, only my personal situation . I'd actually asked our landlady who lives close to us, to redo the lease in joint names to try and stop any problems arising. I wasn't expecting the issue of the owners tabien baan and ID and so that took me by surprise and another visit!

I am hoping they don’t ask for that because I don’t have it...

You go to Chaengwattana to get the 60 day visit family off a Non-O 90 day entry. You need your passport, TM30, lease, marriage certificate(s), wife's thai i/d, wife's house book listing, obviously your wife (seeing as she's the reason you're getting the extension) a filled out application and 1900baht
Martin **********
Yes that's just a promise you will be a good boy and you need to sign to say you understand the penalties for overstaying. Don't stress it mate!

And what form is needed for the extension? Is it available online?
Tod *********
the form is a TM7, they had it out there
@Jer***
.

Really just go into the basement of Chaengwattana where the immigration office is and there are copy shops that will make all your copies and fill out the form for you

I am not sure if my landlord has ever done a TM30. What happens if I don't have that? Everything else is no problem.
Martin **********
@Jeremy ****************
they will make you register yourself while you're there. They charged us 800baht!

@Martin *********
In the queue now. There’s a couple of extra forms they asked us to fill out.
Tod *********
@Jeremy ****************
you need to find out and then contact the immigration office if they didn't to see how you would file for yourself.

Whether you get a 60 day extension or not you won't be able to switch to another tuype of visa from a Non-O inside the country anyway because you can't switch visa TYPES inside the country.

AND you can hold a work permit no problem while on a Non-O married to a thai visa/extension anyway, so it doesn't matter.

@Jeremy ****************
well done mate! That's got to be a weight off your shoulders!

Take your wife! I did my 60 in April then got my year extension last month. They sent me home the first time because my wife wasn't with me. Luckily, we only live 5km away!

Ah, OK, so what you're saying is that I can be on the marriage-based Non-O and hold a work permit? So if I do a 6-day extension now will I be able to do a 1-year extension when the visa is up?
Lee ************************
@Jeremy ****************
you can do a 60 day extention on your visa I’ve already done it with mine
