I just concluded a contract with a Thai company and canceled my Non-B visa and work permit today with permission to stay until March 19th. The company staff told me that I can change the visa and extend to Non-O based on marriage.
1. Is that true?
2. Do I do this at CW or Chamchuri Square (where the Non-B was issued)?
3. Can I just get a short extension as I have a business trip in April and can then just come back in and do the normal extension process based on marriage?
Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user recently canceled their Non-B visa and work permit but has been informed that they can switch to a Non-O visa based on marriage. They seek clarification on this possibility, the correct location for the application, and whether a short extension is feasible before their upcoming business trip. Comments confirm that the switch is possible, but they must apply at the Chaengwattana immigration office, and it is recommended to apply for the extension for marriage rather than seeking a short extension.
NON-O RETIREMENT VISA RESOURCES / SERVICES
Go to the Retirement Visa Section for information on requirements, including age restrictions, financial requirements, and necessary documentation.
For immediate assistance, contact Thai Visa Centre directly via LINE at @ThaiVisaCentre or Email them.
Explore recent discussions by using the Non-O Retirement Visa tag in the search box at the top of the page.
And to add to Todโs response, if you switch to the Non-O Marriage extension, you can keep this visa type. If you later get a job, you can obtain a work permit under the same visa, so thereโs no need to switch back.
you go see if you can get that 60 day visit thai family extension (which as I said I've never seen on a cancellation of extension stamp before) and that could give you time to season the funds
Otherwise you go on the year extension (when you'd need to show the 400k for 2 months in a thai bank account in your name only
OR
You leave the country either come back in and start the process from scratch (90 day Non-O in country, then the year extension),
or
get a 90 day Non-O visa when you're out of the country based on marriage to a thai from a consulate before you come back, get stamped in for 90 days, then do the extension after that when you have 30 days or less and the funds have seasoned the correct time
Thanks, Tod. Iโll head out to CW and ask if theyโll do the visit family extension. Iโm trying to avoid leaving the country as I already have a business trip planned in April and hoping to hold out until then.
you want to make SURE you ask them for the "visit thai family" 60 day extension, don't say "married to a thai" because there is no 60 day extension for that exact reason, just so happens your 'thai family' is your thai wife ๐
this is the clause in the police order for the extension you want
They told you wrong, you wouldn't change to ANY visa, all you would do is before the cancellation stamp runs out, GO to Chaengwattana and apply for the year extension of stay based on marriage to a thai (by meeting the financial and documentation requirements)
You're done using Cham Churi anymore. You cancelled your extension of stay based on employment (you weren't on any visa but on an extension) and now if you want to apply for an extension based on marriage you go to Chaengwattana main immigration office Section L-1
In theory you have until Mar 19th to apply for a new extension. I would say that you should get the documentation together, apply for the extension for 1900baht, get the 21 day under consideration stamp and THEN get a re-entry permit to exit/re-enter and not lose that stamp
Now can you get a 60 day visit thai family extension? I don't know as I've never heard of that being issued on a cancellation of extension stamp (the stamp that lets you be here now).
All you can do is go to Chaengwattana and see if you can get it, but again I'd say just get your ducks in a row documentation wise and go apply for the year extension FIRST, then travel..
