What are the options for extending my marriage-based visa in Thailand due to a financial issue?

Hello, I am currently on a 1-year extension of stay based on marriage that is due to expire at the end of October. Due to curcumstances with my company, I was unable to get the 400K into my personal bank account in the 2 month window. What are my options for extension? I read in another post (which I can’t find now) that it might be possible to do a 2-month extension followed by another 1-year extension? I am normally dealing with IO ar CW. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance.🙏🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on extending their marriage-based visa in Thailand, which is set to expire soon. Due to financial constraints, they could not maintain the required 400,000 Baht in their account for the necessary duration. Responses suggest that a 60-day extension may be possible but emphasize the urgency in applying before the expiration date. Some comments clarify that while a 60-day family visit extension has already been used, applying for a 'Covid extension' before the deadline may be their only option to secure additional time.

Christ this relatively simple question turned into a train wreck 😕

You DID use a 60 day visit family extension on July 16th 2020 (and seeing as you can only get one of those per entry you're done with those).

Your ONLY option right now is to get over to your immigration office before the 27th of the month and apply for a 60 day covid extension. That's it, there is no other short term extension available to you and if they don't extend the covid program that won't be available to you after the 27th either.

Thank you Ellie for pointing out the O/P did have a family extension (y) well spotted.

Can you do it on income of 40k a month pay or more related to your work permit . That's how I do mine
Ellie *******
IF OP has a work permit and can get all necessary documents from all participant entities, yes he can.

As a moderator mentioned above, have you ever applied for 60days extension based on visiting Thai family on your current entry?

If you apply for 60days so-called Covid extension, it likely starts on the day of application at CW. That means so you may get only less than a month longer than your current stamp. Be ready for that.

Thanks. In the worst case, I do travel for work and it seems like they’re trying to open up again. I’m fully vaccinated so I could always consider going on a quick business trip and doing the whole process again when I come back in.

I do not have a work permit. I own a company overseas.

Your stamp looks like you applied for visiting Thailand in July 2020.

It’s confusing. I had a valid visa until Oct 2020, but was the kind you get overseas that requires exit and re-entry every 90 days. Due to COVID that was impossible, so I think it was a COVID extension, not one to visit family.

, unfortunately, your 16 July 2020 stamp says 'visiting spouse'. I don't think you can apply for another one.

So I'm afraid that your only option is Covid extension that is available until 27th Sep currently, to buy (maximum) 26days extra comparing your current stamp. - unless gov gives Covid special program to go once again.

@Ellie ******
What is it that it says in red? Isn't that a COVID-19 stamp?

@Benjamin *****
, this says "visiting spouse". (you can see it even with Mr. Google)

, I'm not good about Thai reading. But I believe it says something about waiving overstaying because of Covid. This is a big assumption, but I also remember that time people got that kind of note when they once entered amnesty and trying to apply for an extension.. OP's stamp was until May and he applied for an extension in July. OP had about a two-month gap technically.

I believe I did do an initial 60-day extension followed by the 1-year extension.

So to answer
@Ellie ******
’s question, it doesn’t look like I ever did a 60-day extension on this visa.

@Benjamin *****
My 1-year extension was granted allowing me to stay until the end of October 2021.

@Benjamin *****
I then did the 1 year extension on 18 Sep 2020 prior to the visa expiring.

On September 18, 2020, you got a 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19

Yes, but he says he is working. Working on the Covid extension is illegal, isn't it?

@Benjamin *****
So in your opinion, can I do a 60-day extension to visit family followed by another 1-year extension? I suppose a trip to CW might be in order to discuss with them.

My last entry was valid until 9 May 2020. It looks like I did an extension in July that gave me until 14 September 2021 but that was just to avoid having to exit and renter. My original visa was still valid.

I last entered Thailand on 10 Feb 2020 before the pandemic. The Non-O I had (from overseas consulate) required me to exit and renter every 90 days.

Will post the stamps here in just a moment. On this passport, I had a Non-O obtained at Savannakhet on 24 Oct 2019 valid until 23 Oct 2020.

You can extend it for 2 months with a extension to continue visiting with your wife after than you will need to renew that visa somenhow

there is no minimum requirement for all year on the extension based on marriage. It needs to be there 2 months prior. Some immigration offices also want it there for 3 months after I believe and some until your under consideration stamp is closed out. But in between that it can go all the way down to zero I believe. Please correct me if I am wrong and there is some sort of minimum, since I'm on my first extension and am currently withdrawing below the 400k.
