never mind. I found it. I swear…I looked many times and couldn’t find it…very odd.

yeah, I have a name a friend gave me for an agent in Hua Hin and tried to call them to do just that. They never called back. I haven’t tried Pattaya, although they seem to be bursting at the seams with agents. I’ve wanted to visit anyway, so I may do that. If I can’t workout a non-O when I have my short visit back to the States, I will do that.

They can do it in Bangkok, but they’re charging a lot or at least they were quoting me a lot.

I’m in Bangkok and I’ve checked in multiple areas. The number you’re quoting is close to what I’ve been told by others. Some even paid only $3K baht. I don’t know if it’s because I’m female and they think they can take advantage or what, but I’ve been quoted similar numbers by multiple agents. When people say, “just pay an agent”, my reaction is, “that doesn’t really make it easier if I have to wander the streets looking for one who won’t rip me off.”

I’ve never been of the “dress to impress” mentality. I don’t see why I need to do anything to impress someone to give them business. With that said, the problem is that agents are charging outrageous fees. I was quoted between fifteen and twenty-five thousand baht just to open an account. Before anyone says, “no, that was for the visa.” Nope. They volunteered those quotes too.

this confuses me. I’ve seen this mentioned a number of times. Yet, on my embassy’s site, they only mention the non-OA and non-OX as being available. I don’t see how one obtains a non-O before entering Thailand.
