The initial Non-O is 90 days then extend for 12 months every year thereafter by meeting the requirements with no mandatory insurance

You don't have to go "home" to apply for a DTV, it can be done in any neighbouring country.

You cannot get a Non-OA in Thailand, you purchase a 12 month extension based on the original Non-O for 1900B by meeting the requirements. In fact a Non-OA is a waste of money as an in country 12 month extension requires the continuation of the mandatory Thai insurance plus the same 800k financials as the Non-O extension so a double whammy.

as it always has been but now they are enforcing the laws more stringently

METV has been available for many years and, like the single-entry Non-O, is issued by the MFA via Embassies not Immigration ;)

If you enter with a 90 day Non-O Visa your first 12 month Extension of Stay must be for the same reason your Non-O was issued. After one year your reason for the new extension can be changed by meeting the requirements.

The multi-entry Non-O ceased to exist when the eVisa system was rolled out globally in January. Some Embassies might still mention it because their website maintenance record is shocking.

That was your problem if your marriage is not registered at your local Amphur. When you get back to the UK start this process :

1. IN THE UK: Marriage certificate legalised by the FCDO in Milton Keynes

2. IN THE UK: Marriage Certificate AND the Apostille from the FCDO Translated

3. IN THE UK: Marriage Certificate AND the Apostille from the FCDO AND their translations verified by the Thai Embassy in London

4. IN THAILAND: All the above (i.e. all 4 documents & their translations, making 8 in total) Legalised by MFA in Bangkok

then go to the Amphur

That's not possible if he wants them to be on a legal permission to stay and to be able to get subsequent extensions. The 800k needs to be in the account 2 months before applying for the 12 month extension then for 3 months after the extension is granted and never fall below 400k for the rest of the year.

Yes, he says I went not we and probably had no marriage documentation as he likely took which got him 30 days on his previous stay
