I have no issue personally with the first test and short quarantine. If nothing else, it gives some statistics. The 2nd test scenario should change though. Just my 2 cents. Canadian.

Covid messed up a lot of my Thailand exploration plans. I want to explore more of that area.

I don't know how you are travelling, or who with, but I got the chance to spend some quality time in Chaiyaphum. The city is low key and the surrounding areas make for good day trips. Waterfalls, temples, farmland, nature. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed my time there. Then again, you could say that about much of Issan. :)

You should check the Thai pass web site (Easy google search), as it has the various entry scenarios. But one of the first things he would need to do is book hotel for the short day 1 and day 5 quarantines while awaiting result.

You question is too broad and vague. But a few things...

The only places you can enter Thailand are Phuket and Bangkok. You can transfer to Koh Samui via BKK, but that is only on on or 2 flights a day with (I believe) Bangkok Air.

If you are not fully vaccinated, then you will have to quarantine, no matter which port of entry you fly into. I am not sure of the current lengths though.

Have you been to Thailand before? If not, Phuket might be the easier place to enter, as your first test is at the airport. Just an opinion though.

And no matter what, you will of course have to register on Thailand Pass.

- A Thai GF/wife/partner improves your odds immensely.

- They will want at minimum, to see your passport.

- And most likely a foreign account where most of the $$$ will arrive from.

- They will check for a visa I think. Although I currently travel visa exempt, the girl saw several arrival stamps per year in mine, so obviously I come to Thailand often.

- Don't give up. I recommend Bangkok Bank.

I don't know your insurance specifically, but your policy should clearly state what is expected. Some expect you to claim back, while others expect the hospital to send them invoices etc for direct payment up to the insured amount.

It sounds like your insurance is expecting the hospital to bill them directly, but I would not have thought it would have been through a phone call, but online somehow. I was given an electronic card to show if needed. Does your policy state a web site to contact?

This is like a soap opera. "Thai Hospital". I look forward to the next episode. Hope it all works out well.

I have been twice since October. 9 hours and 7 hours wait for result. I arrived on the London flight at 630 ish, so maybe a longer wait due to early arrival. A goode time for me to catch up on my sleep.

There may be some different use of the "rt". I just did a quick look up, and some sites call "rt" real time, and some call it "reverse transcript"

"quantitative reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR)".

Either way, I think you are good.

I think the "q" stands for quantitative, and I think that means your lab would have done something extra, so you should be better than fine. I believe the "rt" (real time) would be the more important part of your test type.
