 it's always been possible and without need for an agent, just needs the correct paperwork and a bank with some English speaking staff

Depends on which IO you use. Some allow less than 45 days before exit stamp, others 30 and 15

For me they wanted a 'certified copy' of my passport, done by the UK embassy.

TM30 + signed confirmation from my girlfriend that I live with her. I'm on a TR60.

Bangkok Bank head office had English speaking, helpful staff
