I think if you have shown a history of traveling and shown that you have left when required, that also could be sufficient. My partner isn’t a homeowner nor Business and was able to get a US visa. However, we had already traveled twice to Europe, 1x to Australia, 2x to Japan, Korea, and Singapore, 1x to HK, and Shanghai, and countless times around the region (Cambodia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Myanmar, Philippines, Laos).
- Unfortunately, that is the mindset of the US consulate. They automatically start off interpreting each applicant as being a risk and it is the applicant’s job to prove them otherwise. You would think traveling with an American partner would be a positive in the consular’s eyes, but in fact is seen as an increased risk.
you had to select your location online and then it would link you to the consulate that represents your location. How long do they tell you it takes them to process your visa? Also remember, Monday was a Thai holiday.
Anonymous participant - so the Phnom Penh embassy has always said it takes 5 buisness days, plus 1, so that is confusing why you would apply yesterday and have a ticket back tomorrow. Now to this response, first it is a visa approval process so the statement “legally allowed” doesn’t make sense. You can go back to Thailand and that has nothing to do with “legality”, but the embassy can deny a visa. There have been multiple cases where the embassy has followed up and asked the applicant to take photo of every page of their passport. Since you can’t work in Thailand, it is also not clear what appointments you have to make that can’t be postponed or done virtually
