Hi all, so I have a friend his visa got denied, he’s Nigerian. The email they sent didn’t state the reason.

What’s the best possible solution for him? Because he had submitted all the necessary documentation, and even went for a physical interview.

Can his visa get an appeal or what can he do about it? Thank you all

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user shared that their Nigerian friend had his Thai visa denied without a clear reason stated in the notification. The community provided insights, suggesting that applicants might face difficulties if they are not in Thailand and the agent used may have contributed to the problem. It was confirmed that there is typically no appeal process for visa denials, and the friend might consider applying at a different embassy. However, some members emphasized the challenges due to Nigeria's reputation regarding visa applications and scams. The general advice leaned towards checking local immigration guidance and possibly delaying another application.

Has he ever had a Thai visa before?

Sent you a dm—7 hours ago and not read— so cannot be that urgent🙈🙈🙈

No appeal. He can try at another Embassy, maybe. But you need to check as certain citizenships are allowed to apply ONLY at specific places.

What exactly did the notice say, cancelled, denied, refused, or rejected?

Was his application at the embassy in Abuja? He could try elsewhere but many embassies take at least a month to process applications from Nigerians and require police certificate authenticated by both the Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Thai Embassy in Nigeria

yes it was in Abuja

anywhere else is probably going to be much more hassle than it's worth for a tourist visa.

not sure but from other experiences I have heard they have some reason for rejecting him. Could be financial or something he said in the interview. Best to travel to another country

Nigeria and Ghana are two countries notorious for scammers maybe they thought they was a scammer

i bet to differ. I am Ghanaian, and I have DTV visa. I know other Ghanaians teaching with work permit.It has nothing to do with nationality. It about requirements. Thailand has been very strict these days to to certain activities of foreigners illegal activities. Your friend needs guidance. Contact the local Thai immigration and inquire about it.

Probably because he used an Agent and he is not in Thailand. Is the Agent in Thailand?

Applicant needs to be in the country where they apply.

Sounds like the Agent scammed them.

Unfortunately there is no appeal process and they don’t have to supply a reason. It is a difficult situation to be in.

maybe applying from a different country ??

Wanted to hear y’all opinion because this is a difficult situation to be honest

@Zara ******
unfortunately many citizens from that country have ruined it for most—so thailand not keen on approving visas for Nigerians—did you do a visa support letter for him—that means you accept responsibility while in thailand
John *******
@Zara ******
To apply from a different country, your friend would need to travel there first. That seems like a lot for a tourist visa. Maybe your friend needs to cancel this vacation and apply in a few months

it’s a tourist visa

@Zara ******
well that is the lowest threshold visa. If rejected why do you think a new application would be successful?

@John ******
so can he apply for a new visa immediately or there’s a certain time wait

what type of visa? I am not an expert but you need to understand why friend was rejected. How would a new application be successful when last wasn’t?
