Hello, I'm currently on a METV and was planning on applying for DTV next week, I've read many posts on this subject, and there seems to be division on the matter, some say that once DTV is issued then that automatically cancels TR and that what happened to them, some say that they were told by embassy to reapply after METV expires.
Can we get clarity on this

TLDR : Answer Summary
The transition from a METV (Multiple Entry Tourist Visa) to a DTV (Digital Nomad Visa) can be complex. Generally, separate visas cannot coexist; if a DTV is issued, it typically cancels the METV. However, some users have reported being instructed by the embassy to wait until their METV expires before applying for a DTV. Clarification from embassy officials is suggested as individual experiences may vary.
There have been instances where embassy has explicitly not allowed one to continue with DTV process because they still had a valid METV. They had to wait until it expired.
You can’t have to active visas at the same time. A METV is valid for 180 days after it’s issued, then it’s automatically cancelled and you can apply for a DTV.
