If you are able to secure a job as a teacher, he will have to get an ed or some type of non working Visa.

You will have to support him here.

If he can find online work then he could do that on the down low,(just dont talk about it) while studying language here.

Options are very limited for finding finding a job for both, he has little or no chance of finding legal employment.

Theres always a chance but it super slim.

If he enters on a UK passport he I considered a visitor.

And if he wanted to stay he'd have to get an extension, yes it's odd.

Better to enter on his Thai passport.
Chris *******
Will he be entering on a Thai passport?

If he enters on a a UK passport this will also have an effect on things.

Simply the letter of the law is that all aliens are required to have a valid stamp/visa to remain in Thailand.

However children are not fined or banned for being overstay until starting at the age of 15 and later.

So your baby will be okay till you figure it all out, birth certificate, passport from home country etc.

Then at some time, school age maybe, you may want an ED VIsa but that is years away.

There is no repercussions on you, when you leave the child will have an overstay stamp, no fines or ban and can reenter Thailand no problem.

@Bruce ********
why would you apply for elite at 50?

You should be applying for a Non-o based on retirement.

Cost 2000baht then you apply for the 1yr extension for 1900b.

Just need the 800k in a thai bank.

No health insurance, medical or criminal check needed.

Sooo simple.

due to past abuses of the ED visas and volunteer visas , they will not issue an elite visa if you have one in your history.

Language schools, Muang Thai etc.

However if it was a 4 year Thai university degree, I would suspect there would be an exception.

No one can answer that question for you.

Depends what notes are on your profile.

You've been warned, it will be the next IO to decide your fate.

You may get questioned again or denied or not bothered at all.

Its a roll of the dice at this point, the longer you are away the better your chances you are a tourist.

Have a plan B.

You can try, most you've got to lose is the application fee.

Report back and let us know if you pull it off.

Once you have it, matters not where you enter from.
Chris *******
At your age it will be a difficult road.

You may get away witha couple years on ED visas but then could cause problems for other visa later.

For example you cannot get an elite visa with an ED visa in your history (at least now anyway).

If Thailand is where you want to be then you will likely have to bite the bullet on an elite visa to get you to retirement age.

You can easily live here well on 3-4k US per month.. so if you are budgeting 8k, you can afford the elite.

Or it's off to PH.
