Currently there are no real answers.

As it seems to be understood, those from countries with tax treaties and paying tax at source will not likely be affected.

But no one knows for sure yet what the implications really are.

What we do know is they are after untaxed income being brought into Thailand.

They are closing a loophole that wealthy Thais have been exploiting.

All part of the anti money laundering initiative that is a govt priority, I suspect. IMHO

Criminal record checks are only on a few specific Visas.

Exempt and tourist visas do not require it.

Non-o do not require it either.

Unless of course you are wanted by interpol or something nasty...

The rule is simple.

If you are caught on the street by Police on overstay even 1 day.

It is detention, deportation and ban.

It happens, in most cases it would be someone having interaction with police that requires your details.

If you surrender (this means show up yourself) at immigration or the airport, you are able to pay required fines and extend or exit whichever is applicable.

not for an Incountry non-o visa. **have heard rumors that a couple offices have asked.**

If you get an OA visa health insurance and medical check is mandatory.

Did they give you a date to return, as in you are under consideration?

If so everything is fine.
