That is how I read it too. Asking what they will do after initial course completed. First time I have seen that asked though. Will they note the response on the Immigration record?
Sure. Cancel the DTV, enter on Visa Exempt. Apply for the Retirement "O" and you will get 90 days. Then after about a month or 6 weeks apply for the 12 month extension.
Anonymous participant Yes that is correct. The O-A Retirement Visa is applied for outiside Thailand, usually the home country. This visa requires and approved Health Insurance. However, if you apply for the "O" Retirement Visa at immigration in Thailand there is no health insurance requirement. People usually arrive on a Visa Exempt or Tourist Visa. Apply for the Retirement "O" and get 90 days. Then about 2 months in apply for the 1 year extension. After that the renewal is every 12 months.
Anonymous participant 548 You have to pay tax if 1) You are in the country 180+ days in a tax year 2) You remit assessable income that qualifies for Thai taxation given allowances and DTA's
DTV holders may be living here on it but at the end of the day the DTV is a tourist visa. It was not designed as a residence visa. If it was Immigration would have had to be involved, and the MFA and the previous PM would never have got it passed in the form it is now.
