Hold it tight these visa are now all under scrutiny and they will be removing this visa kind this year as it’s been exploited especially by soft power etc. so you so far have luck on your side but now you are subject to audit and investigation so do follow the rules. Good luck

never in 30 plus years have I heard this or experienced it only if I travel to say Russia - Thailand I think unless you are from a non visa country maybe but I don’t think you are correct and seems very highly unlikely. I mean you rarely if ever see any airline staff except at the gate. So wonder where you experienced this. Very strange and very unlikely
