Good luck, I was turned down for the DTV under the remote worker category, I was able to get my DTV visa under soft power activities, I am definitely self-employed and a remote worker, but they wouldn’t accept that, I provided many documents and letters, bank statements, etc., etc., nothing worked 
I tried under the remote worker/digital nomad category, I jump through hoops for three days sent every form document I could possibly think of, I am 100% a digital nomad/remote worker, but I was denied, applied under the soft power category was approved the next day and my wife the following day, I did not have to pay again, the consulate in Vancouver allowed me to switch categories, this is the advantage of E visa compared to in person
no I did not have to pay two times, I paid once and they allowed me to change the category to soft power activities, the consulate in Vancouver. Canada was absolutely wonderful to deal with.
