We got our DTV Visa a year ago, has anyone had to re-varify ongoing medical treatment under the "soft power" catagory? We did get dental work done last year, do we need to get a letter from our dentist again to show to immigration at the airport entering Thailand this return trip??

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around whether individuals with a DTV Visa need to re-verify their ongoing medical treatment when entering Thailand. Community members mention that verification is not typically required at the border and that checks are more common when applying for in-country extensions. However, keeping documentation ready is suggested in case of potential checks.

Hi Klee what was the letter required from your dentist for ongoing medical treatment? Any specific format ?

Anonymous participant 648 Just a letter from my dentist stating the work we were going to get done, on her office letterhead. We had previously used this dentist a few times in the pasat, so we had a relationship with her. We had no issues getting the DTV Visa at all. We ended up getting some work done, but not all, and this year same thing, we have an appointment for more workd. Even a cleaning should work, but who knows!!!

Never been asked, but im under continuous treatment and always keep the paperwork and next appointments ready when re-enter.

You are supposed to be under actual ongoing treatment. And immigration can make checks upon entry.

He is correct, unless it's stated on the visa like this one. It's the MFA who issue DTVs not immigration. When they scan it the same info which is on the visa comes up.
Siggi *******
@Tore ********
immigration does not check anything
Tore *********
@Siggi ******
if you say so 😆. Generally they don't, but people have been denied entry with DTV even for missing the 20K baht cash lol. The individual immigration officer have allot of discretion....
Siggi *******
@Tore ********
yes I say so, they may be ask what are you doing in Thailand or where you stay, common questions for an officer at airport, nothing to do with kind of visa. They don't know for what reason you got the visa. People who posting this and spreading fear out are just trolls.

It's the job at the immigration to ask questions, same a police officer does at a random check point
Tore *********
@Siggi ******
What lol ? They don't know the reason of your DTV? What hat did you pull that information out of?? As soon as they scan your passport to visa they all the details on the screen lol. Obviously.....

You might wanna do a bit research before making these kind of claims. Just because me and you didn't encounter issues, doesn't mean people didnt....

agreed, we are having dental work done every year, we make sure to get a letter from our dentist in case we need it at immigration. I am just wondering if anyone has actually been asked for proof at the airport or 90 day reporting
Ray *****
@Tore ********
where can you show it says you have to be under ongoing treatment? I'll wait as I believe that is just your opinion rather than in the application process
Tore *********
@Ray ****
this is Thailand, each embassy employs own requirements. So when some embassies require a 6 month treatment plan, you think it’s ok to just ditch the requirement after the visa is obtained?

Its no different than any of the soft powers. Obviously you’re supposed to do the underlying activities of the Visa.

As can be confirmed by anyone that tried to extend their DTV.
Ray *****
@Tore ********
Yes but you don't have to extend as per the requirements. I am very aware this is Thailand and I know the current rules. You are making up your own rules which are not entirely true and therefore as a group to help people with their visa you by making things up are not helping anyone
Tore *********
@Ray ****
im making up my own rules by pointing out it’s smartest to stick to the actual written visa conditions? and have your paperwork in order? Mkey

Immigration already hate DTV as it was pushed onto them. Sooner or later will thighten up. Getting a 5 year free pass for 10k baht by attending a single cooking class (Or faking medical treatment) wont hold up forever……

And as been reported numerous times lately in this very group, several embassies already have gotten allot more strict with the requirements.

but no one i s reporting being asked for ongoing treatments when they arrive at the airport, if they were being asked someone would have said something, not second hand info, but forst hand info. At least I would thin that would be the case.We already have ongoing dental treatments booked in Thailand, so we have a letter from our dentist updated this year, so it is not the same letter from last year when we applied for the DTV, legitemitly we get medical treatment every year in Thailand. I am just very curious as to what is happening at immigration either at the airport of when people are doing the 90 day reporting.
Ray *****
@Tore ********
They hate DTV? Yet again making things up. Always smiling when I arrive at the airport. . Will tighten up, again making assumptions. Mostly all I can see is you making assumptions. If anything ever changes I will be prepared. But for now I along with every other DTV holder can enjoy the visa for what it is and not worry about something that hasn't happened or may never happen.
Tore *********
@Ray ****
Indeed they do. It was forced on them by ministry of interior without their say, which is why extending is so difficult. This has been discussed in here many times, not something I made up 😉

Will tighten up an assumption? Has already happened, also been discussed in here many times 😉

Things have already changed allot since i got my DTV in September 24 😉

Kinda surprising this is news to you. You have been here a while. But you have a good day
Ray *****
@Tore ********
yet nothing has actually changed since the visa was started, same requirements. All visas are forced on immigration, that's the way it works. So from what I and many others have seen nothing has changed and again just a number of doom posters that think differently. I think the other way. Tourism is down massively and they need people here so it will likely get easier. But that as I say is just an opinion
Winston ************
@Tore ********
Always replying with doom and gloom for NO REASON. They're not checking this. You're good for 5 years Klee. Relax.
James ********
@Winston ***********
agreed ✅ as there have been no reports of such questions FROM the Thai Immigration Officer on arrival.
Winston ************
No, they don't check or ask. Visa was issued for 5 years already.

byt they could ask at any time, or change the rules completly, nobody knows for sure when it comes to Thailand.
Anonymous ******************
@Winston ***********
Totally wrong !!
Andrew *******
Anonymous participant 789 they are 1000-% not checking this. They may, but unlikely
Tore *********
@Winston ***********
immigration officers definitely have the mandate to check if you are following the conditions of the visa. It doesn’t happen often at entry, but certainly can. (does happen at extension)
Pete *******
Only when applying for in country extensions, not at the boarder.

you are most likely correct, this is what others have said as well. Best to have all documents ready if needed
