Thai embassy/consulate in Vancouver British Columbia. How to get the DTV by taking cooking classes? 1 day of classes, 1 week, or 10 classes in a certain period, or 20 classes??? We are staying in Hua Hin, any recommendations as to cooking schools? We will be in Thailand for 5 months starting in November, then returning after our house sale closes in Canada in 2025.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The process for obtaining a DTV visa via cooking classes in Thailand depends on the requirements set by the specific Thai embassy or consulate, such as the number of classes needed. It’s recommended to directly contact the Thai embassy or consulate in Vancouver for precise details. Additionally, while you're in Hua Hin, it's advisable to seek out local cooking schools for classes during your stay. Suggestions about exploring education visa options also arose in the discussion.

we already applied for the DTV visa, C$650 or 500 USD seems very high, but apparently they’re only taking two days, I did call them. They were very nice, I asked them a whole bunch of questions, and apparently I will qualify. The man told me,so I feel assured that everything is OK

yes - $650 CAD is 15k baht. For a 10k baht visa. But the consulates can set their own prices. And as you can see, some do.

If you come to Thailand, you can get the visa in Vientiane, Laos for 10k baht. But only worth doing if you are already here

The number of classes depends on the embassy you apply from. Contact the embassy you will apply from for the minimum term of classes.
