ElegantNarwhal3320 When it comes to immigration, I only use the official website of thai immigration. Here's the link of the page on which they describe the requirements to extend visas:

For DTV, it's number #39. Document required, n°4 : "Employment verification documents such as a contract for work abroad that is still in effect on the application date or employment history or previous work.". It's clearly stated that your contract should allowed you to work abroad, i.e from a foreign country. Is it your case?

I didn't. Also, I didn't have that much interactions with them. It's very straightforward. You give them the documents, they give you a number. When it's your turn, you go the window. They will ask you to sit down while they review your papers, then they will ask you to show your face on a camera, then you wait again, and finally, they call you and give you your (stamped) passport. That's really it!

You are doing an unnecessary mental gymnastic when thai immigration has clear rules/requirements explained in plain english.

It's clearly stated on the immigration website. You need the 500K bahts to apply and you also need to have 500k baht (at least) when you extend your DTV. Here's the official page of the thai immigration:

I also add a screenshot of the page. You can clearly see that the documents that I submitted to extend my DTV are literally the ones stated on their website. Also, as a remote worker, you are supposed to work online and therefore, to have regular earnings. It's not like you have saved money solely to fund your life in Thailand. You are supposed to live in Thailand thanks to your monthly/periodical income.

ElegantNarwhal3320 You already have your answer šŸ˜…

Your work contract says that you are only allowed to work remotely in your own country.

You are actively hiding your location from your employer, because you know working from abroad is a breach of your work agreement.

Thai law's immigration stated that you should be allowed to work remotely from anywhere.

I do think it will be problematic.

Participant anonyme 515 First, I have the "freedom" to do a weekend trip to extend my visa.

And yes, it's fear mongering. Not only fear but truth to be said:

- some people "stock" the 500K baht to apply and then use it. So when it's time to extend their visa, they don't have it anymore ;

- not all DTV applicants are genuine. Example: applying through Muay Thai and then, not taking classes.

Need another proof? Next time, people tell you immigration is asking for too much documents, ask them PRECISELY which documents and watch them crumbled šŸ™ƒ
