could you also advise that once the OP receives the non O visa in her passport does it have a certain period of validity e.g 3 months during which she must enter Thailand for the first time or not? Thanks! (This was a concern I raised that if she got it in July but didn’t plan to enter until December?) guessing with multiple this is not the case as with single from the helpful information you posted above?

Judith Jaiboon Dominic’s suggestion above is probably the most convenient as you are only visiting for shorter periods of time every so often, I can’t imagine it would be a problem and seems like you would have your return flight out of Thailand to show if any Q’s were asked. Just remember only 2 land crossing visa exemptions per calendar year 🙂

Might be worth waiting to do this when you plan to live in Thailand permanently as I’m not sure (someone else will advise I’m sure) if you get the visa next month but do not plan to enter Thailand until December that the visa would have already expired as usually only valid for 60 or 90 days after receiving it, as in once it’s in your passport you need to enter Thailand within a certain time period (But I could stand corrected for multiple re entries though as I only have experience with single entry)

If your husband has a permanent address in Thailand that you can use as your residence here:

@Robert ******
I’m only speaking of my experience from living and working there for almost 3 years. No it is not because of them already using the 2 land border crossings as they hadn’t previously made any that year

@Robert ******
you’d have to take that up with immigration I’m afraid

I’m afraid that I can’t tell you the reasons they do or do not allow and why or when they do this all I can share is my experience with this and that of others I know that have tried there...not starting rumors just giving the OP a heads up so she is aware that this may not be allowed

@Robert ******
just to clarify I don’t mean the exempt entry rule I mean the crossing were they allow you to do it. There have been times people have been allowed to do it and then others they have not (including since the rule updated at the end of 2016)

Cindy Fonseca they really do and it’s hard to keep up. At the time they weren’t allowing it at Mae sai, I successfully did one at Chiang Kham- Laos but I had proof of my flight out of Thailand
