ah , ok, you have not been. No, please no motobike! I do have motor cycle license and have taken training. Even then it's still crazy riding. I like a motobike just in town, because it's easy to park and move through traffic. I'll drive the car to play golf. As far as the taxi ask around what the fare should be. For example going from BKK to Sukamvit with meter is around 260 baht + luggage+ tolls. Or driver might say 400 to 500 baht flat. That's not bad. Figure $12.to $15 for a half hour ride through tolls at 1 am, I would not argue. We had a work colleague that was stabbed to death over like 50 baht, as he tried to escape without paying his fare.
that is a contentious matter, I now ride a motobike or drive myself. I get frustrated with the 300 baht quote for 8 min drive, my friend can drive for 40 minutes and it's 100 baht. I don't bother with the meter argument in Bangkok anymore. I just ask meter or no meter. They say no meter, no problem I'll catch BTS. I don't argue, I just find something that works for me.
I understand what you are saying. I just don't go back honestly. Your Thai friend buys a drink and it's 60 baht you buy the same drink and it is 180 baht, I will not argue, I just know me and my friend will not go back to that place. I will only go to places where me and Thai pay same price. Usually places where the price is already written down. I think I'm pretty good with knowing general prices. If the price is out of line , I go elsewhere, no problem. When you go to a National Park, I can understand why Thai citizen would pay less than foreign, Thai citizen pays taxes. I talk with my Thai friends and ask what something should cost. I already know I will never ever get their Taxi price. 🤣🤣.
personally I order from Samsung website. I need to add I'm in the USA and only visit THA. I have T Mobile as a carrier, where I actually get fairly decent service in cities in THA. No charge. My reason for have AIS sim is for fast Internet.
I just prefer to own my phone outright. I could use any service I please, no issue. I just happen to choose T-Mobile because of international coverage and free Internet on Delta flights ( although now Delta offers for free on most flights anyways).
three things for me. You have to get your phone unlocked by the carrier. The carrier adds their bloat ware and apps and you have to wait on the carrier updates versus the manufacturer phone updates, then the ultimate flexibility of carrier choice. Not locked into any service provider. I'm personally in the Samsung Ecosystem, Everytime there is a new phone roll out the incentives are pretty aggressive between trade in value and bonus credits, I usually pay out of pocket around $500 for the top flagship phones unlocked. Same price as carrier I guess.
For me, with AIS, yes you buy a physical SIM card that they then will use as an ESIM on the phone. I'm not sure if this is what you are asking. I could add more E SIM. But I always buy the unlocked version of phone direct from Samsung. Never a carrier phone.
