Thought I would add my recent Education visa application as this group has given some good info to me.

I went to apply at the Ho Chi Minh consulate, gave all the required documents, including a screenshot of my recentish bank statement, with well over the 20k suspected requirement. I am not sure if that requirement was for tourist visa or not.

They then requested a recent bank statement of 3 months, not only to me but many other people applying for just single entry tourist visas as well.

There was one guy getting stressed about giving an additional 3 month bank statement document and said his life depended on getting this tourist visa.

I go in the next day and they don't have my passport ready and I see it put aside with my application form and I'm told to wait.

I then see at least 3 people get denied tourist visas. The stressed guy from the previous day got denied his tourist visa too. He then proceeds to blow up at the staff, including swearing, one racist comment and then left. He was wearing flip flops both days for what that's worth.

I am not sure why people got denied, as all of them supplied all the required documents. The majority of people had no problem getting their visas though.

After it clears up, they said they are concerned with my finances or my stay in Thailand and wanted a letter from a previous employer, parent or someone saying something or other that wasn't so clear.

I said I can give a more recent 3 month bank statement with a larger amount and they said that should be okay. Printed it out around the corner, came back and they told me hopefully that will be enough.

I had thought getting an education visa would only take 1 day, I then had to pay to change my flights and stay another night.

I went in the following day and was lucky enough to receive the education visa. Barely 1 word was spoken at immigration in Suvaranbhumi airport and everything was stamped correctly.

I applied with a fresh UK passport with 2 visa exempts and 1 extension. I also applied from one of the language schools on that list that surfaced recently.

tldr - Had to supply additional documents for Education visa in HCMC and took an additional day, got the visa.

Does anyone know if it is possible to apply for a TRV at Ho Chi Minh prior to a 30 day stamp expiring? I know things change constantly and different consulates can have different standards. Keen to hear any expiriences.
